Phase II– Creation of a Core Structure, Mission and Vision for the Initiative (2012)

The Phase II activities were designed with an objective to mobilize a group of members whose endorsement and support could help to decide the initial direction of the Initiative, form a vision and mission for the Initiative, determine and recruit potential partners, create an action plan, lend credibility and community support to the effort, afford an opportunity to educate the community about the issue, provide a base for membership, fundraising, and other support.

NECRD launched Global Initiative for Sustainable Development and Planning (GISDP)The Co-Founders Dr. Sujata Dutta Hazarika and Saurabh Garg, launched GISDP at the National Stakeholders Meet which was organized at NECRD office in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), United Nations Resource Center (UNRC), and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) at Guwahati, Assam. Outcomes of the Meet were:
  • Outreach of the concept of Sustainability
  • Education for Sustainability
  • Web presence of GISDP’s initiatives in NorthEast India

Interactive Meet on Education for Sustainable DevelopmentThe meet was held in collaboration with Chair for Sustainable Development (CSD), IGNOU; North East Council (NEC),Shillong; Dept. of Environment & Forests, Government of Assam; IITGuwahati; Gauhati University; Anwesha Publishing House, Guwahati; i-CAT IGNOU, Guwahati; TISS Guwahati ; AARANYAK Guwahati and Guwahati RC IGNOU Objectives of the Meet were:
  • Agreement of collaboration of between CSD, IGNOU and NECRD in the areaof Sustainability in NorthEast India through the platform of GISDP
  • To tailor UN Agenda 21, Chapter 36 on ‘Education for Sustainable Development of Assam’
